Wednesday, May 18,2005 - 7:30 pm - The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a working structure fire at 1706 Spring View Lane, just off of Morris Hill Road in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
When the first engine company arrived on the scene they reported heavy involvement and request the next in coming company to bring a supply line from a hydrant.
Several different attacks were made at the same time with inch and three quarter hand lines in an attempt to quickly bring the fire under control. Within minutes it became obvious that this would be a defensive attack due to the already growing intensity of the blaze.
Flames completely consumed the roof in a matter of minutes and dominated control of the interior of the house burning everything in it's path. Firefighting efforts may have possibly been hampered by a car running over and splitting a 4" supply line from the hydrant.
Luckily Tri-Community Firefighters were prepared for such a situation and were able to use water from several other trucks while another supply was established.
Joann Coe lived in the house with her husband. She said that they, Joann, her husband, her son and a grand child, had been eating dinner when her son opened the door to the garage and the whole garage was on fire. He immediately told everybody to get out of the house.
After about an hour, Tri-Community Firefighters were finally able to gain control of the blaze, but not before it totally destroyed the family home and almost all of it's contents.
A cause of the fire has not yet been determined and there were no reports of any injuries.
