Harris Township Firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke coming off of the roof of a single family home in the 10500 block of Adams Road in Granger.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a working basement fire with extension to the attic with the possibility that the home may be occupied. At that time, the mutual aid box alarm system (MABAS) was activated, bringing in assistance from Cleveland Township, Penn Township, German Township, Edwardsburg, and the Clay Fire Territory.

Harris crews completed a search of the home and found the home to be vacant.

Crews quickly brought the fire under control.

Traffic on Adams Road between Birch and Ash was shut down for several hours due to this incident.

Total loss was estimated at $95,000.

The Cause is believed to be accidental.
