Fire Destroys San Jose Home on Sept. 25

On Saturday, Sept. 25, at 12:12 a.m., units of the San Jose Fire Department under the direction of Battalion Chief Gary Galasso responded to multiple 9-1-1 reports of a shed on fire with explosions heard to the rear of a home at 1475 Newport Ave. in the city's Willow Glen neighborhood.Crews found the fire had extended from an attached shed to the second-floor and attic of a 4,000 square foot home.

On Saturday, Sept. 25, at 12:12 a.m., units of the San Jose Fire Department under the direction of Battalion Chief Gary Galasso responded to multiple 9-1-1 reports of a shed on fire with explosions heard to the rear of a home at 1475 Newport Ave. in the city's Willow Glen neighborhood.

Crews found the fire had extended from an attached shed to the second-floor and attic of a 4,000 square foot home.

Additional resources were quickly called to the scene to contend with the blaze. 

The home's six occupants were able to escape the burning structure without injury.

Firefighters pressed a defensive attack that included the use of an elevated master stream and multiple hand lines.
