Virginia Firefighters Attack House Fire

  Suffolk, Va. firefighters were dispatched to the 2000 blk of Airport Rd early Monday morning on Sept. 27 for a house fire. Crews responding could see the column of smoke miles away leaving the station. The crew of Engine 2 started a defensive attack along with firefighters from Engine 1.The majority of the fire was knocked using tank water.Engine 1 crew entered through the rear door and pulled ceilings exposing active fire in the attic area. The fire consumed nearly 50% of the structure.

The crew of Engine 2 started a defensive attack along with firefighters from Engine 1.

The majority of the fire was knocked using tank water.

Engine 1 crew entered through the rear door and pulled ceilings exposing active fire in the attic area. The fire consumed nearly 50% of the structure.

There were no occupants at the residence at the time of the fire.

Fire crews placed the fire under control within 30  minutes.

  The fire marshal's office is currently investigating this fire.

Suffolk Fire responded with Engines 1, 2, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Medic 1, Tankers 1, 8, and FM 4.
