Fort Worth crews were challenged as fire ripped through a balloon frame house early Friday morning. The fire reached three alarms before being brought under control.

At 12:40 a.m., Engines 24, 20 and 3, Quint 24 and Battalion 4 were dispatched to 2001 Queen St. for a house fire.

Crews found smoke and fire showing from the large 2 ½-story Victorian home on the city’s eastside.

Battalion 2 called for two additional engines to help find hidden fire.

Second and third-alarms were called as the fire grew rapidly. The balloon frame construction in this turn-of-the century home helped the fire spread easily throughout the structure.

One firefighter complained of trouble breathing and was treated on scene.

The home was originally built in Clarksville, TX and was moved to Fort Worth nearly 30 years ago.

Early estimates put the losses at over $300,000.
