Structure Fires Handled in N.J.

  On Friday Aug. 20, crews were dispatched in Camden City to 1264 Sycamore St. for a dwelling fire. Battalion 1 reported several dwellings heavily involved with fire still spreading to more exposures. The second alarm was struck. Crews set up multiple 2 1/2" hand lines and 2 ladder pipes to surround the dwellings in a defensive operation. The fire extended and damaged a total of five dwellings. One firefighter was treated and transported to a nearby hospital.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced occupants.

The Camden City Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation.

Companies responded to this block multiple times during the week for small fires. Companies also battled a two-alarm fire in these structures back in January of last year.
