Fully Involved Structure Fire in Rockaway Borough, New Jersey

The fire was reported at 2:45 am and upon arrival, Rockaway Fire Chief Bob Hopler immediately requested mutual aid from Rockaway Township and Denville Township.

A fully involved structure fire on Chestnut Terrace was reported to the police by a neighbor. The fire was reported at 2:45 am and upon arrival, Rockaway Fire Chief Bob Hopler immediately requested mutual aid from Rockaway Township and Denville Township.

Additionally, a FAST team was also distached from the Dover Fire Dept.

A Rockaway 75 ft. ladder was put into service as were 2.5" hand lines.

The resident was in the house at the time of the fire and it is suspected that he fell asleep while smoking a pipe in bed.

He was taken to St. Clares Hospital in Denville for treatment of minor burns that were not considered life threatening.
