Deptford Township, New Jersey Firefighters Make Quick Stop on Dwelling Fire

Shortly after 11 p.m. on May 8, 2005 the Deptford Township, New Jersey firefighters were called out to a fire on Carnegie Avenue in the Oak Valley section.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on May 8, 2005 the Deptford Township, New Jersey firefighters were called out to a fire on Carnegie Avenue in the Oak Valley section.

County fire radio was getting many calls reporting flames coming from a 2 1/2 story split-level dwelling with possible entrapment of a elderly woman.

First in fire units reported they had a heavily involved dwelling and were going in service with two 1 3/4 inch lines.

Neighbors told fire official that the women who lived in the home was away and staying with friends.

Four companies from Deptford Township and Wenonah Boro Fire Company fought the blaze. They had the fire under control within 35 minutes. Fast Teams from Woodbury Hts and Mantua Twp Fire Department assisted.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Deptford Township Fire Marshal's Office.
