At about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 the City of Newburgh Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire on Renwick Street near Liberty Street. As firefighters were responding someone also pulled the street box at the corner.

Moments later Car 4 (Duty Chief) arrived and reported heavy smoke and flames from a vacant 3 story ordinary at 95 Renwick Street. Car 4 transmitted a second alarm and requested a mutal aid FAST Team from Cronomer Valley to the scene.

With heavy fire conditions at the rear of the building an additional mutal aid engine from Middle Hope Fire Department was requested to assist.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to building of origin but the third floor and roof sustained heavy damage. Several Departments were also on standby while companies battled the blaze.
