Broward County, FL –More than two dozen firefighters kept a fire from gutting a home on Sept. 14.
Fire-rescue crews were able to enter the single-story home near Ft. Lauderdale to extinguish the blaze, which consumed the kitchen.
They had to remove storm panels secured to the rear and side of the home to ventilate the heavy smoke.
A woman who lives in the home told firefighters she was cooking and thought she turned the stove off before leaving.
When she returned, she found heavy smoke and flames. She was treated on the scene by Lauderhill Fire Rescue.
