The call came in about 1 p.m. for an ATV accident in the river bed, east on the City of Santa Maria.

Crews aboard SBCo Engine 22 and Battalion 513, Santa Maria City Engine 3, an AMR medic unit and California Highway Patrol responded to meet the caller, who led them to the victim.

SBCoFD's Copter 309 was requested to search the area to find the down rider.

Units had to travel on a dirt road for over a mile to where the victim was. The rider was found conscious and suffering from a possible broken ribs.

The patient was packaged by fire medics and placed into a Stokes because of the uneven terrain and slight incline.

The patient was transported to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment.
