Fort Worth firefighters battled an intense two-alarm fire in an apartment complex on Sept. 1. The fire displaced eight residents.

Crews were dispatched to the Hidden Valley apartment complex in the 800 block of Heights Drive at 1:40 p.m. Engine 7 arrived at 1:47 to find heavy fire conditions from a second-floor unit and smoke from throughout the structure. They started an interior attack, but the fire quickly spread to the attic space.

A second alarm was called immediately.

The fire quickly consumed the open attic area, causing a large section of roof to burn away. Crews were pulled out of the structure and went to an exterior attack. Ladder 14’s aerial pipe was used to douse the heavy volume of fire from the second floor and attic space.

Units had the fire under control by 2:10 p.m.

About 20 Fort Worth Fire units responded to the incident.
