Shortly before 9 o'clock on the night of Sunday, March 16, 2003, Anne Arundel County (MD) Fire Department alerted companies to 3453 Laurel Fort Meade Road (Maryland Route 198) for a building fire.

Shortly before 9 o'clock on the night of Sunday, March 16, 2003, Anne Arundel County (MD) Fire Department alerted companies to 3453 Laurel Fort Meade Road (Maryland Route 198) for a building fire.

Units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the Shoppers' Food Warehouse, and requested a second alarm almost immediately.

Numerous units responded to the incident, including mutual aid units from Prince George's, Baltimore and Howard Counties, with units from as far as Queen Anne's county providing units to backfill affected firehouse.

The fire was declared under control at roughly 11:30 PM. Anne Arundel County Fire Department investigators are working with local and federal law enforcement officers to determine the cause and origin of the incident.
