Firefighters responded to a 2 alarm fire in Upper Darby, Pa. on the 200 block of Asby Rd.

Firefighters responded to a 2 alarm fire in Upper Darby, Pa. on the 200 block of Asby Rd.

Quint-37 & squirt-36 were first on scene to find heavy fire in the basement and first floor. Tower-74 was called for the R.I.T.

Crews manned 1-3/4 & 2" water lines for an interior attack but were pushed back by the intense heat. Shortly after arrival, a partial collapse of the 1st floor into the basement occurred.

A 2nd alarm was sounded, bringing the remainder of co-74 and co-26, rescue-20 was special called for the new R.I.T. team.

Crews re-entered the bldg to find heavy fire extending thru the walls into the roof area, they had 6 lines stretched and operating in the fire building and exposure "B."

It took over 1 hr to bring the blaze under control. Eventually, parts of the 2nd floor and roof also collapsed in on the orig fire dwelling. They had extension into the roof area of exposure "B", due to a common cockloft running the front of the homes.
