A fast-moving 5 alarm fire swept through the Fountainview Village Apartment complex in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, New Jersey (Camden County) on April 19, 2005.
The apartment complex is off Little Gloucester Road Near the Camden County College in South Jersey. The blaze damaged over 20 units in the large four-story birch building section.The fire left 19 people homeless.
Over 12 fire companies from Camden County and a ladder company from Washington Township in Gloucester County battled the blaze of over two hours before bring it under control.
Tower Ladders from Blackwood, Chews Landing, , Washington Township along with canteen units from Cherry Hill Twp and Canteen 2 worked into the morning hours.
This apartment complex has a long history of working fires in it within the last 30 years.
One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury.The cause of the blaze in under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office.
