Savannah, Georgia - Savannah Fire & Emergency Communications dispatched Engine 6, Truck 16, Rescue 1, Safety 1 and Battalion Chief 1 to an accident with injuries on I-516, just east of Veterans Parkway, on Friday Aug. 20, 2010.
Savannah Engine 6 arrived and found a one-vehicle rollover with one patient ejected and one entrapped. Crews immediately went to work using the Jaws of Life while Medstar units began to arrive. CPR was administrated to the ejected patient.
Both patients were transported to Memorial University Medical Center with severe injuries and later pronounced dead. Savannah Chatham Metro Police closed down I -516.
Prior to the accident the SUV struck another vehicle, causing the pickup to flip across the median into the eastbound lane.
