A police pursuit in upstate New York turned deadly after the driver speeding from the police crashed into a tree and a house on Aug. 16. Firefighters had to cut him free from the wreckage.
Rochester firefighters were dispatched to the car accident on Brooks Avenue at about 4 p.m. Engine 7 arrived to find the SUV crashed into the front porch and a victim trapped and in traumatic arrest.
Crews cut the man free from the car and he was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man had stolen a car in a suburban community and as police pursued him, they called it off. Shortly after is when the crash occurred in the city limits.
Because of the structural damage to the house, the Rochester Special Operations team was deployed, bringing additional resources to set up a cutting station to shore up the collapsed areas.
