Fatal Florida Accident

A 26 year old mother traveling with her two children, ages 3 and 7, crashed into a retaining wall on Interstate 75 near Brandon. The driver of the vehicle was traveling north when she apparently went up an embankment and struck a concrete wall near an overpass.

The driver of the vehicle was traveling north when she apparently went up an embankment and struck a concrete wall near an overpass. The two children where pulled out of the cars by civilians who witnessed the accident.

When Hillborough County Fire and Rescue units arrived on scene, they immediately stabilized the car that was on the edge of an embankment and requested air transport for 1 adult trauma alert and 2 pediatric trauma alerts.

The mother also had to be extricated from the vehicle. The mother and her two children were transported by air to Tampa General Hospital were the mother and her 3 year old daughter later died. The remaining child was listed as critical.
