Domestic Dispute in Texas Leads to Two-Alarm Fire

  A man was burned after apparently starting a two-alarm fire following a domestic dispute in Fort Worth on Tuesday morning, August 3, 2010. Units were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. to the Sandshell Apartments on Sandshell Drive. First-on Engine 31 reported heavy fire from the first floor of a two-story, eight-unit apartment building. A second alarm was called.

Units were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. to the Sandshell Apartments on Sandshell Drive. First-on Engine 31 reported heavy fire from the first floor of a two-story, eight-unit apartment building. A second alarm was called.

Crews tackled the smoky fire and brought it under control in about 30 minutes. The fire destroyed the first floor apartment where the fire was started. It heavily damaged the unit above it and caused moderate damage to two other units.

Officials found and arrested a man suspected of setting the fire in a nearby hospital. He suffered burn injuries. No other injuries were reported.

About 40 firefighters responded to the blaze. Units dispatched included: Engines 31 and 25, Quint 9, Battalions 3 and 2, Squad 2, Truck 2, Engines 19, 15 and 1 and Battalions 1 and 6.
