A crash occurred on I-77 North at MM-22 at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28.

A Michigan man was driving north on I-77 when he lost control of his F-250 Ford and trailer. When he tried to regain control, his vehicle came loose from the trailer, which was carrying a Mustang Ford.

The incident sent the pickup over the guardrail and into the southbound traffic of the interstate.

The HVFD had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the driver’s door away and allow EMS to gain access to him.

A helicopter landed on the south side of the interstate. Traffic was halted both ways for about 20 minutes.

The Virginia State Police investigated the crash.
