N.Y. Firefighters Handle Car Crashed Into Building

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, Avon Ambulance and Fire were dispatched to the "Avon on the Green" at the corner of Prospect and Main Street, for a car into the building.

Avon Car 2201 started mutual assistance from East Avon. A car was found to have gone through the wall of the building and was completely inside an occupied apartment. Avon EMS Car 2461 requested ALS ambulances from Livonia, Honeoye Falls and Henriettta due to the number of potential victims.

One occupant was extricated from the debris and was transported to Strong Hospital in critical condition aboard Avon 2482, with Medic 70. The vehicle operator was transported in stable condition aboard Livonia 2983, with Medic 74. Another occupant was checked and released by Honeoye Falls Mendon ALS-5619.

Avon and East Avon Fire, with the assistance of the Avon Police and Livingston County Sheriff's Office, evacuated the remaining tenants of the building.

Approximately 30 people were moved to the Village Hall via school bus. No other injuries were reported. The Red Cross was assiting with the displaced residents.
