On Sunday March 2, 2003, the Loomis VFD along with Holdrege VFD and Bertrand VFD conducted a live fire training exercise.
Approximately 30 firefighters took part. Members of the Holdrege VFD conducted the training which included interior firefighting as well as rescue. About 25 firefighters gained valuable experience fighting interior fires.
For several of these firefighters this was the first time inside a burning house. There were no injuries. The house was donated to the Loomis VFD by the landowner who is removing it in order to farm over the site.
