On February 1, around 1am the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department recieved a 9-1-1 call that a garage was on fire and that things were exploding inside the garage on Sheringham Dr.

The homeowners woke to the sound of glass breaking and went to investigate a possible burglary. When they opened the door to the garage they were met with fire. They closed the door, exited the house and called 9-1-1 as explosions started in the garage.

Over 10 Harlem-Roscoe Fire units arrived to the scene including two 3000 gallon super tankers to shuttle water from over a mile away. Two neighboring fire departments were put on standby.

As first in units started to attack the fire, there continued to be things exploding in the garage blowing flames high into the night sky out of the windows. A properly built fire wall between the garage and house had done a great job of holding the fire up to this point, but the firefighters had to work quickly to bring the fire under control.

The fire was brought under control in an hour but it took 4 more for overhaul to get to the hotspots. It was well after 6am before all trucks were back in service. The fire destroyed the 3 car garage and all its contents which included a new Diesel Ram pickup and an Audi, the house only recieved some smoke damage. Investigators were called in and it appears to have been electrical.
