On February 16, 2003, at 1716hrs, firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the unit block of Paul Lane in the Lima section of Middletown Twp (Delaware County), PA.

At the time of dispatch, heavy snow had been blanketing the area for about 12 hours and there was already over a foot of snow on the ground.

The temperature at the time of dispatch was 10 degrees F. Lima volunteers had been staffing the station throughout the day and were en route in seconds. F/C Bradfield (69-9) arrived to find a 2 ? story wood-frame house with heavy fire conditions on the first floor and in an attached garage. Two vehicles in the garage were also fully involved. TR69 and E692 arrived just behind the Chief and began an aggressive interior attack.

As mutual aid companies arrived, two additional handlines were placed in service. As a result of an extremely aggressive effort by initial crews, the fire was held to the original area of involvement. Three civilians and two firefighters were transported to area hospitals via M1047 and A697. All units were clear in about 3.5 hours. The cause is under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal
