Kentucky Firefighters Battle House Fire

On Feb. 12, 2003, the Louisville Fire and Rescue Department was called out to 221 Pope Street for a house fire shortly before 4pm.

On Feb. 12, 2003, the Louisville Fire and Rescue Department was called out to 221 Pope Street for a house fire shortly before 4pm.

Engine 21 is stationed only one block away from the scene and reported medium smoke coming from a two story wood frame dwelling.

The fire soon spread to the adjacent house on the left as firefighters fought to keep the building on the right protected from exposure.

The second alarm was struck as the exposure on side two had fire extension into the rear attic.

Eleven companies and more then fifty firefighters held the fire in check and prevented spread to exposure side four.

Fire Officials are still investigation the cause of the fire. No one was injured.
