Daytona Beach Firefighters Manage MVA

Daytona Beach Fire Department personnel responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash involving a Med Shuttle Unit just after 4:30 p.m. the afternoon of July 7.Witnesses reported that a maroon sport utility vehicle was traveling south on North Segrave when the driver attempted to cross the intersection of with Fairview Avenue, and was hit by the Med Shuttle Unit travelling eastbound on Fairview Avenue.DBFD paramedics performed a rapid assessment of the patients involved.

Witnesses reported that a maroon sport utility vehicle was traveling south on North Segrave when the driver attempted to cross the intersection of with Fairview Avenue, and was hit by the Med Shuttle Unit travelling eastbound on Fairview Avenue.

DBFD paramedics performed a rapid assessment of the patients involved.

During their assessment, DBFD paramedics found the middle-aged female driver of the SUV entrapped and four patients (one driver and three special needs individuals) with minor injuries in the Med Shuttle Unit.

The middle-aged female driver was extricated from the SUV using specialized tools. She was transported to Halifax Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Further assessment found the driver to have minor injuries, and he was transported to Florida Hospital for precautionary reasons. The other three occupants were unharmed.

Battalion Chief Mike Tyrell of DBFD made contact with Med Shuttle Transportation Company, and another shuttle was called to transport the passengers to their destinations.
