While on patrol, a Mountain Home Police Officer found smoke and fire coming from a restaurant on the North Side of town.

Due to the time of morning, 1 AM, and lack of a fire alarm system the fire got a good head start on firefighters.

Engine 1 arrived on scene and advanced a handline through the back to try to make an interior attack. The crews were advancing when they experienced rapidly developing fire conditions. A firefighter escaped the structure suffering minor burns.

The crews quickly went to a defensive mode, utilizing large handlines, and the tower ladder. When the fire was brought under control, crews went back inside to hit hot spots.

The exposure buildings were not effected, and no other injuries were reported.

The fire is still under investigation. Units on the assignment were: Engines 1, 2, 5, Ladder 1, Tower 1, Rescue 1, and Chief 1.
