Wilmington, DE Firefighters Find Heavy Fire, Smoke

On February 6, 2003 at 1140 hours, firefighters responded to the area of 25th and Market Streets for a report of a house fire.

On February 6, 2003 at 1140 hours, firefighters responded to the area of 25th and Market Streets for a report of a house fire.

First arriving companies reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the second floor of a 2 story, semi detached, masonry, single family dwelling. The second floor of the dwelling was heavily involved.

Firefighters contained the fire to the structure of origin with severe damage to same. The house at 2502 sustained smoke damage.

It took 40 firefighters just under one hour to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. It was undetermined if there was any working smoke detectors in the residence.

The cause and origin are under investigation by the Wilmington Fire Department Fire Marshall
