D.C. Cold Snap Provides Rescue Drill Opportunity

Members of the DC Fire & EMS Department used the recent cold weather to conduct ice rescue drills on the Potomac River.

Members of the DC Fire & EMS Department used the recent cold weather to conduct ice rescue drills on the Potomac River.

Rescue Squads 1 & 3 and the Firefighting Deputy converged on Buzzard Point Marina to practice the delicate art of rescuing an individual who had fallen through the ice. Each member utilized ice rescue suits carried on RS1 and then took turns rescuing and being rescued from 25-degree water.
