Cal Fire Assists in Saving Residential Structures

Spring Valley, Calif. - On June 9th 2010, CAL FIRE was requested to assist the San Miguel Fire Department with a fast-moving vegetation fire that was threatening multiple residential structures.The Helitack crew was quickly deployed and began constructing a line around the fire perimeter while being supported by water drops from the helicopters.

The Helitack crew was quickly deployed and began constructing a line around the fire perimeter while being supported by water drops from the helicopters.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department and CAL FIRE have a cooperative helicopter program located in EL Cajon and Fallbrook. This unique program is one of few inter-agency relationships in the United States that brings law enforcement and the fire service together.
