Construction Worker Rescued by Fort Worth, Texas Firefighters

A construction worker was injured by equipment Wednesday, June 2 while working in a tunnel at the bottom of a 20-foot trench. The worker was 60 feet inside the tunnel. Other wokers at the site, operated by the Boring and Tunneling Co. of America of Houston, Texas, retrieved him from the tunnel. FWFD was dispatched at 2:10 p.m. and sent its Technical Rescue Team to extricate the injured worker from the trench.

The worker was 60 feet inside the tunnel. Other wokers at the site, operated by the Boring and Tunneling Co. of America of Houston, Texas, retrieved him from the tunnel. FWFD was dispatched at 2:10 p.m. and sent its Technical Rescue Team to extricate the injured worker from the trench.

Using a Stokes basket and a rope and pulley system, the injured worker was lifted from the trench without incident. He was transported to a local hospital by MedStar ambulance.
