On January 4th, 2003 the Cannonsburg Fire Department in Cannonsburg, Kentucky performed a technical rescue.
Lilly the dog was out hunting with her owners in the woods outside of Cannonsburg when she fell off a highwall. She fell aprox 40 feet down landing on a ledge. The highwall was aproximately 90 feet high.
The owners tried for several hours to get to her. Unsuccessful in their attempts, the Cannonsburg Technical Rescue team responded.
After setting up a haul system Firefighter Jonathan Ferguson, a certified Technical Rescue Technician was lowered down to the dog. He was able to pick the dog off the ledge and was then lowered down the remainder the the distance to the bottom.
The dog, Lilly, was uninjured.
