Elizabeth, NJ Area Firefighters Battle 6-Alarm Warehouse Fire

Units from Elizabeth, NJ, the surrounding area and FDNY battled a six alarm warehouse fire Saturday morning.

At about 6:20am on January 25, 2003, Elizabeth Fire Department responded to 200 South First Street on a reported trailer fire.

Upon arrival heavy smoke was pushing from all floors of the 3 story 300x300 warehouse.

Additional alarms were struck and the request for mutual aid tower ladders to the scene. 10 tower ladders opperated on the waterfront warehouse.

Mutual Aid from the FDNY was requested for two tower ladders. Ladder 149 and Ladder 87 along with Battalion 20 responded to the scene from New York City.

The fire building had a partial collapse in the rear and interior firefighters had to evacuate the fire building.

Chief Kelly placed this fire under control at 1025 hours making this fire a 6th Alarm Plus.
