Bronx, New York Fire Sends Seven Residents, Three Firefighters to Hospitals

A one alarm fire on February 7, 2005, in the Bronx sent 10 people to the hospital and caused two families to be relocated.

BRONX, NY -- A one alarm fire on February 7, 2005, in the Bronx sent 10 people to the hospital and caused two families to be relocated.

The fire, which broke out at 982 Prospect Avenue at about 10:30 PM, was brought under control within an hour. Most of the residents were permitted to return to their homes last night, however, the fire caused extensive damage to two apartments.

Fire Department EMS members treated and transported 10 patients, three of which were firefighters, to area hospitals for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but it's not thought to be suspicious.
