Fire and EMS crews worked to free a female driver after she was pinned in her car following a two-vehicle crash at a major intersection in Lake Elmo, MN on April 17.

Just after 12 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Inwood Avenue and 3rd Street North for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. Units from the Lake Elmo Fire Department, Lakeview Ambulance, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded. They found a collision between a pick-up truck and four-door sedan, with the sole occupant of the sedan, a female, pinned inside.

The intersection, which serves as an exit ramp for I-94 and a busy shopping mall, required additional law enforcement agencies to help keep traffic moving around the crash scene.

Fire crews assessed the patient and worked with hydraulic rescue tools for about 15 minutes to free the driver. The driver’s door was removed and the woman was placed on a stretcher by firefighters and paramedics.

Another ambulance was called to assist a passenger in the pick-up truck who was complaining of neck and back pains.
