Memphis Fire Department Responds to Office Fire

On January 6, 2003, the Memphis Fire Dept Alarm Office received numerous calls for reports of a leasing office in a apartment complex on fire.

Around 430 in the morning the Memphis Fire Department Alarm Office received numerous calls for reports of a leasing office in a apartment complex on fire.

Engines 48 51 47 Trucks 22 Truck 10 Rescue 1 Battalion 11 Battalion 12 Division 2 were sent out. Engine 48 reported on the scene with alot of fire and smoke through out the large 1 story office building.

With the convenience of a plug directly in front of the building the plug was taken while 2 1 3/4 hand lines were laid. Engine 47 laid out a precautionary LDH supply line and took the plug out on the street.

Command and Operations were set up and the call for a Level 2 Staging and a extra pumper to be assigned as the Rit Team was requested.

Engines 24, 23, 17, 46, Truck 23, Truck 25, Hose Tender 2 Task Force, Air Truck 1, Unit 13 were dispatched along with MPD to block off traffic on one side of the large street out front.

Due to a quick attack the fire was brought under control as the 2nd alarm assignment arrived on the scene.

Extensive damage occured through out the 1 story leasing office located the front of the apt complex. Fire Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire at this time. There were no reported injuries.
