PA Firefighters Extricate Three on I-81

At 11:22 hours Cumberland county EOC dispatched Engines 52, 50, Rescue Squads 54, 47, Ambulances 53, 47, Franklin County Ambulance 7, and Medics 84 and Franklin Medic 7 to a report of a auto accident Interstate 81 south at exit 29.

At 11:22 hours Cumberland county EOC dispatched Engines 52, 50, Rescue Squads 54, 47, Ambulances 53, 47, Franklin County Ambulance 7, and Medics 84 and Franklin Medic 7 to a report of a auto accident Interstate 81 south at exit 29.

Cumberland EOC advised Chief 52 that a firefighter on scene reports that 1 trapped, 2 confined. First units on scene, found two separate vehicles in the south bound lane. Two people trapped in a pick-up and one in a trapped a car.

The medic from 84 request that air medical helicopter. Life Lion from Hershey Hospital sent two choppers, but where turned around due to icing conditions.

Units on scene worked for 30 minutes to extricate all 3 patients. Pennsylvania State Police shut down I-81 south bound. Units remained on scene for about 60 minutes for clean up. All patients transported to local hospitals.
