Arson Suspected at Florida House Fire

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach firefighters responded to 960 Berkshire Road around noon time Monday, April 19 for a residential structure fire. They found heavy black smoke coming from the back bedroom of the structure. Once inside the residence, fire crews were able to knock the fire and confine it to the bedroom within minutes.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach firefighters responded to 960 Berkshire Road around noon time Monday, April 19 for a residential structure fire.

They found heavy black smoke coming from the back bedroom of the structure. Once inside the residence, fire crews were able to knock the fire and confine it to the bedroom within minutes.

Witness reports state that a middle-aged male was seen leaving the house prior to the start of the fire. The Florida State Fire Marshal's Office and the Daytona Beach Police Department were investigating for possible arson.

Due to the smoke and fire damage to the interior of the home, the Red Cross was notified and two residents were receiving assistance. No injuries or further damage were reported on scene.
