Warwick, Rhode Island Area Firefighters Battle Rekindled Live Training Fire

The call came in about 6:38pm, Saturday, December 28, for a structure fire at 2200 Post Road in Warwick - a site used earlier in the day by firefighters as a live training exercise.

The call came in about 6:38pm, Saturday, December 28, for a structure fire at 2200 Post Road in Warwick.

When the fire department arrived on scene they quickly realized that it was the Great House Restaurant.

The restaurant has been a landmark in the Warwick area for years.

And now it was fully involved and quickly consuming the building.

Fire personal quickly began laying lines to try and salvage anything they could of this building.

The once 3 story restaurant now had become a pile of rubble within 15-20 minutes.

People at a restaurant next door was still eating inside during the whole time.

The fire department used 4 engines, 2 ladders, 2 rescue?s, and 1 Hazards Unit.

It took the fire department all night to put the smoldering rubble out.

Now what caused the fire is still under investigation, but the fire department had used that structure for training earlier in the day.

They are unsure if the fire was a rekindle of the training exercise.
