Dover, Delaware Firefighters Perform a Confined Space Rescue

Twenty-five Dover firefighters were on location with Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Ladder 2, Engine 3 and Car 15.

On January 26, 2005 at 09:32 hours Dover Fire Department units were dispatched to the 100 block of Blue Beach Drive for the report of a worker who was injured after he had fallen 15 feet to the bottom of a manhole.

Chief Bashista arrived on location and confirmed on subject injured in a confined space approximately 15 feet below the roadway in a manhole.

Firefighters quickly made contact with the worker as entry was made into the confined space.

The worker was removed by rescuers at 0953 hours and transported to Bayhealth Medical Center.

Twenty-five Dover firefighters were on location with Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Ladder 2, Engine 3 and Car 15.
