Redings Mill Firefighters Battle Fire at Historic Missouri Mill

It took a response from six fire departments, fifty-seven firefighters, and twenty-one pieces of apparatus to control the fire in a little over four hours.

On January 6, 2005 at approximately 0953 hours, the Redings Mill Fire Protection District responded to the historic Redings Mill Inn for a report of a structure fire. On arrival, crews found the second floor to be well involved of the 132 year old three story structure. The builidng was occupied as a restaurant and bar on the first floor and living quarters on the second.

It took a response from six fire departments, fifty-seven firefighters, and twenty-one pieces of apparatus to control the fire in a little over four hours. Crews were hampered by cold weather and had to use a water shuttle to provide water suppression efforts as the area did not have hydrants.

There were no injuries and the fire was confined to the second and third floors.

Crews from Joplin Fire Department, Seneca Fire Protection District, Duenweg Fire Department, Carl Junction Fire Protection District, Neosho Fire Department, and the Seneca City Fire Department assisted.
