75 firefighters from four departments along the Ohio River of Martins Ferry battled an industrial fire at the communities largest employer, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company.

December 17, 2002 Martins Ferry, Ohio - 75 firefighters from four departments along the Ohio River of Martins Ferry battled an industrial fire at the communities largest employer, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company.

The fire, believed to have started from a cutting torch started in a wharehouse portion of the steel finishing facility that specializes in coated steel products.

The fire damaged storage areas, maintenance facilities and locker rooms but did not damage production equipment.

There were no injuries to any firefighters or employees and the facility was back in production after one shift being down.
