Ocala firefighters responded to 23 9-1-1 calls in about an hour. The storm, which dropped between four and six inches of rain in two hours, left several citizens stranded in their cars in rising waters and blocked streets.
Crews were able to wade through the waters to rescue two stranded motorists from their vehicles.
A separate water rescue, several fire alarms and motor vehicle crashes kept crews hoping as they maneuvered the flooded streets. No serious injuries were reported.
