5-Alarmer Guts $5 Million New Jersey Mansion

On December 30, 2004, at about 7:30, a call came into the Millburn Fire Department in Millburn, New Jersey for the "smell of smoke" on Watchung Road.


On December 30, 2004, at about 7:30 PM, a call came into the Millburn Fire Department in Millburn, New Jersey for the "smell of smoke" on Watchung Road.

The 5-alarm fire, as it turned out, took more than 10 departments three hours to bring under control.

The structure turned out to be a $5 million mansion, with religious artifacts and a temple in the basement.

Fire watch persisted for over 18 hours after the fire was knocked down.

The mansion was completely gutted by the fire.
