Atlantic Beach and Pine Knoll Shores Fire Department Battle North Carolina House Fire

Firefighters responded to a working structure fire in the Beacon Reach subdivision on December 29, 2004 at 2:40 p.m.

Pine Knoll Shore, North Carolina -- Firefighters responded to a working structure fire in the Beacon Reach subdivision on December 29, 2004 at 2:40 p.m.

Atlantic Beach and Pine Knoll Shores Fire Departments were initially dispatched.

Upon arrival of ABFD Ladder 341, PKSFD Ladder 1 and Chiefs from both departments, firefighters were faced with a fully involved three story residential house fire.

The house was under construction at the time the fire started.

Firefighters protected a two story residential house on exposure D side of the involved structure with an elevated master stream and fire crews handling 2 1/2 inch hose lines.

Although the initial structure was a total loss, firefighters prevented any further damage to adjacent structures. The fire was brought under control approximately one hour after initial dispatch.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
