North Providence, Rhode Island Firefighters Make Rescues From Apartment

On New Year's Eve North Providence, Rhode Island firefighters responded to 200 Vincent Avenue to find heavy fire showing from a 3 story brick apartment house.

On New Year's Eve North Providence, Rhode Island firefighters responded to 200 Vincent Avenue to find heavy fire showing from a 3 story brick apartment house.

Engine 4 reported that numerous people were jumping from or hanging out of several windows on the upper floors.

As additional units were summoned, Engine 4 and Rescue 2 began saving those in the greatest jeopardy.

Battalion 1 arrived on scene and immediately requested and Engine and Truck from Providence and an Engine from Pawtucket to the scene. Mutual aid from Johnston and Smithfield was also requested.

In all, 3 people were taken to local hospitals, all with minor injuries.

Firefighters had the fire knocked down within 20 minutes and extensive overhaul was being performed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
