Residents Rescued from N.Y. Apartment Fire

  Rochester, N.Y. firefighters rescued nine people from an early-morning downtown apartment fire on Sunday. Engines 17, 1, Truck 10, Battalion 3, Rescue 11, the protectives and the incident safety officer were dispatched about 3:30 a.m. to Liberty Pole Way for a report of an apartment fires with multiple people trapped. The crew of Engine 13 was assigned as the rapid intervention company.

Engines 17, 1, Truck 10, Battalion 3, Rescue 11, the protectives and the incident safety officer were dispatched about 3:30 a.m. to Liberty Pole Way for a report of an apartment fires with multiple people trapped.

The crew of Engine 13 was assigned as the rapid intervention company.

As 9-1-1 call takers received more reports of people trapped, Battalion 3 called for an additional company and Truck 4 was assigned.

Crews confirmed smoke showing and a female hanging from a window from the three-story, mixed-use building.

Firefighters rescued several people using an aerial platform and ground ladders. They also removed some people using the interior stairs. The fire started in the hallway.

Ambulance crews transported three residents and one passerby who tried to aid the victims to local hospitals. The fire displaced more than 20 residents.
