Lurgan Twp., Orrstown, Pa., just northwest of Shippensburg, Pa. Barn assignment box 11-03 was dispatched sending First due Co 11 Pleasant Hall Eng. 11-1, Eng. 11-2, Amb. 11-8 and Deputy Chief 11.

On the box assignment with them were Co 15 West End Fire & Rescue, Co 52 Vigilant Hose, Co 53 Cumberland Valley, Co 51 Newburg and Co 13 Letterkenny Army Depot.

Heavy smoke was visible a few miles away from the scene, apparent working fire this Sunday morning at 10:55 a.m.

The barn located in an amish little community sit back a lane of the main road.

Upon arrival of Deputy Chief 11, making a quick size up, the barn being engulfed, his primary concern was to protect the exposure, being the household residence.

He asked Franklin County dispatch to go heavy on the tankers giving him an additional three on the box.

Eng. 11-1 arrived dropping a 5" supply line back the lane,Eng. 15-1 arrived also dropping a 5" supply line to finish the lay.

Handlines were pulled from Eng. 11-1 to protect the residence, as Chief 11 operating Eng. 11-1 did his work at the pump panel.

The aluminum siding on the side of the residence was hot and began to melt as firefighters cooled it down.

The next three tankers were dispatched sending Co 12 Tanker 12, Co 49 Tanker 49, and Co 5 ET5, along with Sta. 4 Squad 41.

A portable water tank was set up at the end of the lane for water supply, and water was shuttled to the scene by the tankers from a hydrant located on Roxbury Road in the village of Mongul.

Eng. 2-52 was on the hydrant in Mongul. The bulk of the fire was brought under control in about thirty minutes.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but not suspcious, asking the fire marshall to assist in the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported to anyone.

Deputy Chief 11 started releasing units to clear the scene.

The last unit departed the scene at 1257 hrs.
