While performing overhaul at the scene of a fatal fire on 11-24-02, two oxygen cylinders ruptured and ignited in the front portion of the single wide trailer.

While performing overhaul at the scene of a fatal fire on 11-24-02, two oxygen cylinders ruptured and ignited in the front portion of the single wide trailer.

Two firefighters from the Eureka, California fire department were just a few feet away from the cylinders when they exploded. Neither firefighter was injured due to the fact that they were both wearing full personal protective equipment including SCBA with masks on.

The photos illustrate the potential hazards faced even after knockdown is achieved.
