Delaware Firefighters Injured Battling House Fires

On arrival, first due companies encountered heavy fire on the first floor of the original structure and heavy smoke on the second floor and attic area of the original structure and the exposure structure.

On this Wednesday, December 4 at 0107 hours, companies responded to 715 North Rodney Street for a report of a house fire that eventually destroyed one house and seriously damaged another.

On arrival, first due companies encountered Heavy Fire on the first floor of the original structure and Heavy Smoke on the second floor and attic area of the original structure and the exposure structure at 713 N. Rodney Street.

The structures involved are described as semi detached, brick, 2 ? story, single family type dwellings.

The Wilmington Fire Department depleted its available manpower and apparatus while fighting the blaze and were assisted at the scene by one ladder company, and two engine companies from New Castle County.

Several of the Wilmington Fire Stations were covered temporarily by New Castle County Companies until Fire Department personnel could be recalled.

At the peak of the operation, there were approximately 60 personnel battling the blaze.

The fire was not placed under control until 0419 hours, however units remained on the scene until approximately 1000 hours this morning.
